Maserati joins the Carabinieri – with a life-saving mission

When it comes to stylish police cars, Italy has always known how to make an entrance. But this time, it’s not about chasing criminals – it’s about saving lives.

The Italian Carabinieri have just welcomed a Maserati MCPura and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio into their fleet, both adapted for the rapid transport of organs and blood across the country.

Unveiled at the Carabinieri’s General Command headquarters in Rome, the vehicles are part of a collaboration between Stellantis (the parent company of both brands) and the Italian police force. Each car has been equipped with temperature-controlled storage compartments, emergency communications systems, and the Carabinieri’s iconic navy-blue and red livery.

The Maserati MCPura, the new name for the facelifted MC20 is powered by the Nettuno 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6, producing 630PS and capable of 0–62mph in just 2.9 seconds. Its carbon-fibre monocoque and race-derived engineering make it one of the fastest organ delivery vehicles on the planet - ideal for the congested Italian roads!

Joining it is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, another Italian thoroughbred with a Ferrari-derived twin-turbo V6, generating 520PS and reaching 62mph in under 4 seconds. With a fair bit more space inside than the Maserati, it’s perfectly suited to emergency medical logistics.

General Commander Gen. Salvatore Luongo described the partnership as

“A vital tool for saving lives, the highest mission an institution can pursue.”

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa echoed that pride, saying the collaboration,

“represents the best of Italian design and technology, not just as a symbol of performance, but as a tool for saving lives.”

This marks Maserati’s first appearance in Italy’s police fleet, joining a tradition of high-performance heroes that includes Lamborghini’s Gallardo, Huracán, and Urus (story here), all previously used for medical transport.

Because in Italy, even public service comes with passion, craftsmanship, and a soundtrack.
